Prostate cancer has many similarities to breast cancer. In the first place, it is among the most common deadly cancers. Secondly, it is gender specific (although it is possible for males to develop breast cancer, it is exceedingly rare). Third, it is detectable using a self exam. Finally, the prostate, like the breast, is located in a location that is not frequently talked about.

It is recommended that men aged fifty and older receive a yearly prostate exam. However, since the long term prognosis is directly proportional to how early the cancer is detected, conducting a prostate self exam can give you added precious time if the cancer develops in between your regularly scheduled exams.

A prostate self exam is surprisingly easy to accomplish, though it may take a bit of will power to get over the natural tendency to avoid the part of the body where the prostate is located. The prostate is very easy to reach as it lies less than a finger length away from the rectal sphincter, but the really hard part is convincing yourself that probing into the rectum is a good idea. This takes a bit of mind work–aren’t a few moments of being uncomfortable worth it if those few moments make the difference between catching the cancer early or late?

To perform a prostate self exam, simply insert the index finger into the anus and feel for a fleshy mass. It should have the same consistency as the skin between your thumb and index finger when making a tight fist. A healthy prostate is firm but not hard.

Gently massage the prostate, carefully feeling for any hard lumps. If you detect a lump, do not panic–it’s probably not cancer and, if it is, at least you caught it early. Call your physician and ask for a comprehensive prostate exam.

Doing a prostate self exam may be uncomfortable and embarrassing, but they can mean the difference between terminal and treatable prostate cancer. A few minutes of discomfort can save your life.

Prostrate Gland

A lot of men actually have no idea where the prostate is and the actual importance of this gland. The prostrate works in the system of the body that has to do with the reproduction system. In the male it is roughly about the size equivalent to a walnut and can be found in the body below the bladder.

The urethra in the male has two particular roles. One is to grip urine from the bladder during urination, and the following is to hold sperm during ejaculation. The prostate gland must have male hormones to work in the right way. Some testosterone is also produced by the adrenal glands. The prostate has developed by the ninth week of the embryo. It is formed of glandular and non-glandular enclosed in a capsule. The prostate goes through two main times of enlargement.

In adolescence the prostate doubles in size, and then again grows again when a person reaches the age of twenty-five. For men under fifty the commonest problem is prostatitis, older men are far more at danger for BPH. Older men are far more subject to developing prostate cancer even though it is less common that BPH.

If you are having any urination issues it could be a sign you may see your doctor about your prostrate gland.

As men grow older, the health of their prostate gland is put at risk. A lot of men who are already in their senior years have been introduced to various ailments, relating to a particular type of prostate problem.

One of the most common prostate problems is prostatitis. Men who have prostatitis find their prostate gland to be infected and at the same time suffering from inflammation. In rare instances, this can be cured by mere antibiotics, but other men have to go through several treatments to fully conquer the disease.

Prostate cancer is also another disease commonly encountered by men. A man must undergo chemotherapy and biopsies in order to cure the cancer.

Enlarged Prostate Gland

An enlarged prostate could be an early warning sign of cancer. Having a doctor check the prostate is a way to prevent complications down the road. Enlarged prostates can cause a person to be in a lot of pain. They may have difficulty urinating, find blood in their urine, suffer weight loss, and experience urinary tract infections.

The causes of an enlarged prostate gland are unknown. If an enlarged prostate goes untreated, it can hinder a person’s lifestyle. Enlarged prostate symptoms and treatment options are available from many resources.

Talking with a doctor is the best way to find treatments for an enlarged prostate. There are prescription medications that can shrink an enlarged prostate. Herbs, such as Saw Palmetto, have been documented in studies to reduce the size of an enlarged prostate over time.

Progesterone creams when applied to the prostate gland will also help ease the pain. Many men between the ages of fifty and eighty suffer from this condition. They will require treatment at some point as the pain will become too much for them to handle.

Man who suffer from an enlarged prostate may feel inadequate in many areas of their lives. They will have to urinate often, not sit for too long, and may have difficulties with impotence. It is important to understand all the treatment options available and should be prepared to try a few of them before finding one that will work.

While the causes of an enlarged prostate gland are unknown, there are lifestyle changes a person can make that might help prevent or treat an enlarged prostate. Eating foods that are rich in essential vitamins and minerals, drinking plenty of water, and getting regular checkups will help detect other illnesses and put a person’s mind at ease because they are being pro active in their treatment.

The treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia can take lots of different directions. These stop further prostate enlargement and in some cases basically shrink the prostate gland back to a lesser and obstructive size. An instrument is inserted into the urethra to shed the portion of the prostate that obstructs pee flow.

Anesthesia is compulsory, and a catheter is usually used to get rid of blood or blood clots from the bladder. Patients are customarily wanted to stay in the surgery for a day or two for observation.

Enlarged Prostrate Symptoms

- If you’re an adult male, you need to keep an eye on the health of your prostate, a small, walnut-sized gland located directly behind the wall of your rectum. For many men, the prostate becomes enlarged at some point in their lives, but they ignore tell-tale signs until the problem has reached a critical stage. Instead of waiting, listen to your body and watch for these symptoms of a enlarged prostate that has grown bigger than it should be.

Difficulty Urinating – One of the most common signs of an enlarged prostate is difficulty in urinating. Because the prostate contains a tube which carries urine to the urethra (the opening at the tip of the penis), enlargement can create a “squeezing” of this tube and thus a stoppage in the urine stream. This can create intense discomfort as well as a feeling of constant need to urinate (but inability to do so.) If you’re having this frustrating symptom, it’s time to make an appointment with your physician.

Blood in the Urine – Along with difficulty in urinating, an enlarged prostate sometimes causes blood to seep into the urine. As you’re going to the bathroom, pay attention to the color of your urine stream; if you see any red or pink, it’s time to pick up the phone and call your family doctor. This can also be a sign of prostate cancer, so it’s best to find out the source of the blood as soon as you can.

Difficulty Maintaining or Getting an Erection – This is something that many men refuse to talk about, but erectile dysfunction (ED) can be a symptom of an enlarged prostate. If you have been plagued by erections that either won’t stay firm (or if you haven’t been able to perform sexually at all even though you are aroused), you should have your prostate checked out. ED can be a sign of other bodily concerns, too; don’t assume that all you need to do is take your buddy’s Viagra pill to fix the problem. Instead, seek medical attention.

Remember that your body is always sending you signals as to the health of your various internal organs, including your prostate with the enlarged prostate symptoms. Listen to those signs and you’ll wake up to a healthier tomorrow.

Prostrate Gland

- While performing a self-exam on your prostate gland isn’t simple, it could wind up saving your life by catching prostate cancer early on. Below, we list some advice on checking your prostate.

First, you need to know about the prostate gland. This is a small, walnut-sized object located right behind your rectum wall. Tubes pass through the prostate gland and carry urine and seminal fluid. Thus, the prostate gland is essential for both waste delivery and procreation.

For you to check your prostate, you’ll need to insert a finger into your rectum; however, because the anus walls are so delicate, you must use some kind of lubrication to avoid rupturing them. Finally, it’s recommended that you use some kind of surgical glove because it will allow you to more easily feel the prostate.

If this is the first time you’ve tried to self-check your prostrate gland, you may not be able to tell what you’re feeling. Thus, it could be a good idea for you to wait until your next physician’s appointment at which time he or she can walk you through the process. (Alternatively, your doctor may tell you that it’s not necessary for you to perform this kind of self-exam.)

Another way you can “check” your prostate gland is to be conscious of your bladder and bowel functions. Are you having trouble urinating? Is it difficult to have a bowel movement? Have you noticed blood in your urine, even only on occasion? Have you had trouble getting or maintaining an erection? These can all be signs that something is wrong with your prostate (though that doesn’t necessarily mean you have prostate cancer; an enlarged prostate can cause those concerns, too.)

In the end, by being diligent and listening to your body, you can “check up” on your prostrate gland.

Prostrate Surgery

- Numerous men who have developed prostate problems are worried that they won’t be in a position to enjoy sex after the surgery. Although their doctor has assured them that that this will happen on rare occasions, it still creates the worry about what might happen in this important area.

Some men may encounter issues due the problems they fear after surgery rather than the surgery itself. If you are nervous , it is extremely advisable to talk to the doctor before the actual surgery happens. A lot of men do find that it is very useful to talk to a qualified adviser in the period after surgery. This will normally help and be reassured on issues they are worried about.

You will have to undergo an annual checkup to ensure that there are no further problems and that additional surgery is not required. These checkups are essential and can identify early diagnosis in the fight against prostate cancer.

Their sexual function might take some time to return to normal, in most cases the majority of men can enjoy sex as normal after prostrate surgery. This period before normal function of sex could be up to 12 months, but this is dependent on a variety of factors such the severity of symptoms before the surgery.

Enlarged Prostate Gland.

It is a Condition Caused by Numerous Disorders. An enlarged prostate can be caused by a number of conditions, some harmless and some potentially deadly, such as prostate cancer. So just exactly is it? An enlarged prostate is an increase in size of the gland. The causes are many and various, and may include bacterial or viral infections, natural processes associated with aging, as well as cancer.

The most common causes of an enlarged prostate are usually benign. Prostatitis is a blanket term that covers a number of different disorders all of which result in an enlargement of the prostate gland. Acute bacterial prostatitis is an enlargement of the prostate caused by a bacterial infection.

The treatment for this condition is simply administering antibiotics. Chronic bacterial prostatitis is caused by a physiological defect that provides a safe harbor for bacterial growth. The treatments for this type of enlarged prostate are not as simple as for acute bacterial prostatitis since the defect must first be treated before antibiotics can prove useful. This often involves surgery to correct the original disorder.

The worst case scenario for prostate enlargement is prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is one of the most common causes of death for males over the age of fifty. Prostate cancer not only causes tumors, but also results in a general enlargement of the prostate itself. If detected early, prostate cancer is very treatable. However, if the disease is not detected before the onset of symptoms, it can be very difficult to treat.

Regardless of the causes of prostate enlargement, the symptoms are typically the same. These may include difficulties urinating, including a feeling of being unable to completely empty the bladder. Another common symptom of an enlarged prostate gland is blood in the urine. While some blood in the urine is natural, an enlarged prostate can cause excessive amounts of blood in the urine that may be visible to the naked eye.

If you are suffering from inflammation of your prostate gland, it is advisable that you go to your family physician the soonest possible time. When a man is already at his sixties or his seventies, the possibility of having an enlarged prostate can be very high.

The condition is caused by the cell growth right within the prostate’s inner core. This is the area that is located near the urethra of the male organ. You may also feel uneasiness during urination as caused by the swollen prostate.

Prostrate Health

- Old age is the time for thinking back to his accomplishments, lifestyles, swings and roundabouts in life and lots of other items related to his life. Almost all of them will feel satisfied BTW they led their life. This is the time when you enjoy the great benefits of his difficult work. This is true even in the case of prostate too. Prostrate health can be influenced badly in the old age.

Aging is a natural process and no human being is from this net. Process of aging is a biological phenomenon and is typically influenced by the living conditions, illnesses, life styles and environments.
Health is extremely vital to lead a correct and suggestive life. It is probable that several sicknesses can affect the body when you’re aging.

Disintegrating of the health, including prostate health, can lead to worry, but it shouldn’t moisten the affairs of the individual. The main reasons for prostate cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia are no longer yet found by the medical world. But the danger factors, which can cause these illnesses, are famous. Prostate health relies on the presence of these risk factors. Plenty of studies have exposed the age is a crucial factor in the prostate health. There were two hundred thousand cases of BPH and the numbers of prostate cancer patients are continuously growing from year to year.

The problem is extremely significant when we think about the great advances made in the field of prostate treatment and surgery. Aging and illnesses are two factors that may reject the contentment of folk. So it is important to take mandatory cares and utmost care in keeping the overall health of the body including the prostate health. Achieving a superb prostrate health is a very challenging task, but do believe that it’s not a not possible task.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia BPH

is a swelling of the prostate gland that is not due to prostate cancer. Sadly, since the prostate gland grows wrapped round the higher portion of the urethra, if it swells, negative side-effects can result.

The condition can be extremely uncomfortable and negative to maintaining a properly working, healthy urinary system. What exactly causes benign prostatic hyperplasia is still not absolutely accepted by modern medication.

Across the totality of their lives, men produce both the male hormone testosterone and a little amount of the female hormone, estrogen. As a natural side-effect of aging, the amount of testosterone active in the bloodstream decreases. In nature, as most animals age, they stop producing dihydrotestosterone.

Following prostrate surgery which can correct the problem of BPH, patients are often wanted to stay in the hospital for a day or two for observation. Complications from the surgery should be gone after that time. Less significant cases of benign prostatic hyperplasia bph can be treated with certain types of drugs and even prostate care.

- If you have had problems with your prostate gland that forced you to choose to have it removed (or consider having it removed), you need to know what the side effects of that decision are or will be. Below, we’ll look at a few of the outcomes of losing your prostate gland.

Hormonal Changes – The loss of the prostate gland results in a lowering of male hormones. Thus, if yours is or has been removed, you may wish to take some kind of male hormone supplement to ensure that your body isn’t “shocked” by the loss of androgen.

Loss of Sex Drive or Impotency – Many men report a loss of the desire for intimacy after their prostate gland has been removed. However, there are medications and natural supplements that can be taken to improve the desire for sexual contact with one’s partner. If you’re having trouble maintaining or getting an erection, that can sometimes be remedied, too. Ask your doctor for advice and don’t be shy; though it can seem embarrassing to discuss sexual activity, it’s in your best interest to feel as good as possible.

Difficulty Urinating or Having Bowel Movements – Sometimes, after the prostate gland is removed, noticeable waste elimination problems begin to occur due to nerve damage that was sustained during surgery. These problems sometimes reverse themselves after the patient has healed, but if they don’t, further surgery may be necessary to relieve the issues.

Fatigue – Finally, many men report feeling more fatigued after losing their prostates. This could be for a combination of reasons, most likely hormonal changes mixed with psychological trauma. Give it some time after your prostate gland has been taken out; often, with rest (and perhaps therapy), your energy will return to optimum levels.

Though it’s never an easy decision to have the prostrate gland removed, rest assured that if you have to make that choice, there are prostate treatments available to help you return to pre-surgery health and wellness.

Prostate pain can clearly indicate that a man is starting to have problems with his prostate area, which is why it is important to ensure that an annual health check is done.

A lot of times, this symptom can subtly suggest the possibility of cancer or other life-threatening diseases. There are random remedial tests or examinations that you can take to see if your prostate pain is being caused by an alarming disease that needs immediate medical attention.

Prostrate Health

- Concern over the side effects and physical trauma (not to mention the efficacy) of traditional surgical methods to heal the body has created a whole industry devoted to holistic health alternatives that don’t involve prescription medications or invasive procedures. This means that for men concerned about their prostrate health, there are plenty of natural options available to keep this walnut-sized gland functioning properly.

Diet – One of the best approaches to a healthy prostate is to maintain a good diet plan. It can be as strict as you prefer – some eschew meat and feel it is unnecessary and fouls up the bowels, thus creating stress for the prostate gland. Others simply recommend a diet high in fiber, low in fat, and generally well-rounded. Whatever you’re most comfortable with is the diet you should follow.

Exercise – There’s nothing better than a brisk walk (or jog, if you’re able) to increase the blood flow and stimulate the health of your prostate. Most holistic healers recommend a lifestyle that includes plenty of exercise; unless you’re a “gym rat” now, you’re probably not getting enough of the good stuff. Ramp up your exercise routine by getting outside and doing yard work, lifting weights, skiing, hiking, or enjoying a host of other heart-pumping activities. Even traditional physicians herald this approach to keeping all your bodily organs, including the prostate, in tip-top shape.

Supplements – Naturopathic doctors often recommend taking supplements as a way to boost your prostate health. However, there’s no one “recipe” as far as vitamins and minerals go; therefore, you’ll need to find the one that works best for you. By visiting your local healthy foods grocer, you can find some supplement packages and test them out. (And most health food stores also have a library section so you can read up on the supplements before buying them.)

Remember that there are many different ways to help your prostrate health. And in the process, you’ll probably ramp up your physical and emotional bliss, too.

Finding the right treatment or prostate cure for your prostate problem can be a challenge. A man must undergo extensive diagnosis and checkup in order to determine which method will be most effective for their body’s recovery.

If you have prostate cancer, for instance, the treatment will depend on how much damage the cancer sells have brought to your prostate as well as other parts of the body. The most common cure for the disease is radiation treatment, as well as radical prostatectomy.

The former is run by a series of x-rays, in order to diminish the cancer cells in the man’s body. The latter, on the other hand, makes use of extensive surgery in order to fully remove the prostate, including the lymph nodes to avoid the disease from spreading.

Prostrate Gland

The Prostrate gland is a Small, Walnut Sized Gland Located in the Lower Abdomen. The prostate is a urological gland that until recently received very little attention. The prostate creates some of the components of seminal fluid and is also active in several aspects of sexual function.

Normally a well behaved prostrate gland, the prostate can cause problems for men over the age of fifty. In the past, prostate problems were rarely noticed since men tended to die of other causes before any difficulties could come into the picture.

However, now that medical science is radically increasing life spans, we are learning that the prostate health is vitally important. So where is the prostate gland in the body? This article provides a rough guide.

The prostate is situated just below the bladder and it encircles the urethra. It has several functions, the most important of which involve the creation of seminal fluid as well as proper sexual functioning. Several nerves that are required for erectile function traverse the prostate, so any prostate difficulties can also manifest themselves as sexual and urinary dysfunctions.

The prostate is located just below the bladder, and this means that the prostate is easily accessible for examination. The most common type of physician based prostate exam is the digital rectal exam, which involves the physician inserting his or her finger into the anus and massaging the prostate, looking for bumps, calcifications, and other irregularities. Individuals can also conduct their own prostate exams if they are able to overcome the natural revulsion that comes with interacting with their anal region.

The prostate gland is easy to locate, and it behooves every male age fifty or older to conduct periodic prostate exams. The act of examining the prostate is not one that most men enjoy, but this simple procedure can be a true life saver.

Prostrate Health

-Thousands of men each year discover that after a visit to the doctor that they have an enlarged prostate or the more serious disease of prostate cancer.

We have to be reminded that just because the heart is still beating then the our blood is flowing as it should. In case of prostatitis or an inflamed prostate the problem in most cases could have been prevented with taking the right supplements.

For long term prostate health you need to be aware of 3 factors.

1) Early diagnosis from a regular checkup with your doctor
2) Daily Exercise as routine
3) A balanced diet for prostate health as well as overall health.

It is unfortunate statistic that prostate cancer has become one of the most common forms of cancer affecting thousands of men and their families each year. It is therefore beneficial to change your diet if necessary to ensure your prostate health and also decrease the risk of contracting prostate cancer.

You should aim for a balanced diet low in fat and meat with plenty of fiber and combined with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables.

Daily exercise is a must, not only for the health of the body, but it also increases your ability to cop with the daily stresses that life will throw at you. It will make you feel better and give you more energy. These are benefits that should not forget.

Please also try and make a regular appointment with your doctor for the required prostrate health checks. These are blood test and rectal examination to check the prostate. The benefits of early diagnosis of prostate cancer cannot be overstressed. These are the ones that have the greatest chance of survival.
